The thought behind the title of this article has helped me more than anyone will ever know. When it comes to mental illness, it can often be difficult to find the support that you need. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or thoughts of suicide, it can feel like no one understands what you are going through. I believe that we all have a responsibility to help each other by sharing our stories and offering our advice. By doing so, we help to normalize these experiences and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. We all have different perspectives and experiences to share, and by coming together as a community we can show that there is no “right” way to manage your mental health, just healthier ways.

As a veteran, I know we have a high public profile regarding mental health and destructive behaviors. There are so many of my brothers and sisters in and out of uniform who are wrestling with their experiences, their emotions, and many being “morally wounded” as well. I have walked in dark places as well and feared I would never get beyond it; but I have.
